McNary Heights is in full holiday spirit! Classrooms each decorated their doors for the door decorating competition. The Kinder hall even went all out with a cheerful Whoville theme. Check out pictures of the rest of the doors on our facebook page!

All three schools today were able to enjoy a delicious holiday meal put together by our nutrition staff! Students were able to enjoy ham, au gratin potatoes, stuffing, and a roll. Thank you to our nutrition staff for putting this together for students!

How is the Little Angel Shop ready for students to shop? Because of amazing donors and volunteers! Thank you to all who contributed items to the shop, the students have an amazing selection thanks to you. Thank you to our Parent Teacher Club members, school board volunteers, and Amazon Web Service employee volunteers for giving time on Sunday to make sure all was ready for students today. We appreciate you!

McNary Heights has wrapped up their Canned Food Drive, and they collected a total of 2,274 non-perishable items! All items were donated to the Umatilla Volunteer Firefighters Association for their annual Christmas food baskets. The class that brought in the most cans and won a hot chocolate party was Ms. Estrella’s 5th-grade class! Great work, Mustangs, and thank you to all the families who contributed.

¡McNary Heights concluyó su colecta de alimentos enlatados y recolectaron un total de 2,274 artículos no perecederos! Todos los artículos fueron donados a la Asociación de Bomberos Voluntarios de Umatilla para sus canastas navideñas anuales de alimentos. ¡La clase que trajo la mayor cantidad de latas y ganó una fiesta de chocolate caliente fue la clase de quinto grado de la Sra. Estrella! Gran trabajo, Mustangs, y gracias a todas las familias que contribuyeron.
We appreciated the opportunity to visit with Dr. Charlene Williams (Director of the Oregon Department of Education) and her team this week. She toured our robotics and dual language programs in action. On her tour, she was able to see middle school students building and programming their FTC robots, hear the high school FRC students explain how their robotics team works with their various subteams and ended the tour watching Kinder and 4th grade dual language classes complete reading and math lessons in Spanish. We appreciate the Oregon Department of Education taking the time to visit and experience a glimpse of Umatilla schools.

Apreciamos la oportunidad de visitar a la Dra. Charlene Williams (Directora del Departamento de Educación de Oregón) y su equipo esta semana. Ella recorrió nuestros programas de robótica y lenguaje dual en acción. En su recorrido, pudo ver a los estudiantes de secundaria construir y programar sus robots FTC, escuchar a los estudiantes de FRC de la escuela preparatoria explicar cómo trabaja su equipo de robótica con sus diversos subequipos y finalizó el recorrido observando cómo las clases de lenguaje dual de kindergarten y cuarto grado completaron la lectura y Lecciones de matemáticas en español. Agradecemos que el Departamento de Educación de Oregón se haya tomado el tiempo de visitar y experimentar las escuelas de Umatilla.
The Umatilla School District extends a HUGE thank you to the Umatilla Police Officers Association and the Umatilla Police Department who gave 26 students this year the opportunity to participate in Shop with a Cop. Students were able to shop for gifts for their families and received a gift for themselves from Walmart. We appreciate your generosity and all that you do for our students. Thank you also to Hermiston Walmart, Coca Cola, Morrow County Sheriff’s Department, and the Oregon State Police for assisting with this event. We appreciate you all!
