
Today was 8th grade Fly-Up Day! The 8th graders from CBMS were able to visit the high school and have freshman orientation. They were given a tour of the school, registered for classes, and also had the opportunity to learn about extracurricular activities offered at the high school. Thank you to leadership students for giving tours of the high school, and to all the UHS staff that helped put this event together!
Hoy fue el día de Fly-Up del grado ocho! Los estudiantes de 8º grado de CBMS pudieron visitar la escuela secundaria y recibir orientación para estudiantes de primer año. Se les dio un recorrido por la escuela, se registraron para las clases y también tuvieron la oportunidad de conocer las actividades extracurriculares que se ofrecen en la escuela secundaria. Gracias a los estudiantes de liderazgo por dar recorridos por la escuela secundaria y a todo el personal de UHS que ayudó a organizar este evento!

Guy Parke will be attending Eastern Oregon University this fall to get a bachelors in science. After getting his bachelors he wants to go to an undecided vet school to become a veterinarian.

Seniors today declared their post-secondary education! Seniors were also recognized if they received an honor cord, ASB cord, Seal of Biliteracy, or FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America) sash. To receive an honor cord, seniors needed to have a cumulative GPA of 3.5. An ASB cord was given to seniors who are in Leadership Class. The Seal of Biliteracy was awarded to students who demonstrated they are proficient in two languages. FCCLA sashes were awarded to seniors in Family Consumer Science Class. We are proud of you, Vikings!
Los Seniors declararon hoy su educación postsecundaria! Los Seniors también fueron reconocidos si recibieron un cordón de honor, un cordón ASB, un sello de alfabetización bilingüe o una banda FCCLA (Family Career and Community Leaders of America). Para recibir un cordón de honor, los estudiantes de último año debían tener un GPA acumulativo de 3.5. Se entregó un cordón ASB a los estudiantes de último año que están en la clase de liderazgo. During Umatilla’s softball StrikeOut Cancer game on May 13th, they raised a total of $550 through a silent auction. The funds were raised for Umatilla County’s Sisters Influencing Survivorship. Three members of the survivorship, two Umatilla High School Freshmen, and the Umatilla Chief of Police, who are all survivors, each threw out a ceremonial first pitch and got to keep the commemorative pink softball. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our Vikings and help join the cause!
Durante el juego StrikeOut Cancer de softbol de Umatilla el 13 de mayo, recaudaron un total de $550 a través de una subasta silenciosa. Los fondos se recaudaron para Sisters Influencing Survivorship del condado de Umatilla. Smoke from a science experiment set off the fire alarm at Clara Brownell Middle School this morning. Everyone is safe, and there was no damage to District property or equipment. We were able to quickly identify there was no immediate threat, and we used the impromptu opportunity to run an unscheduled fire drill. El humo de un experimento científico activó la alarma contra incendio en la escuela secundaria Clara Brownell esta mañana. Todos están a salvo y no hubo daños a la propiedad o al equipo del Distrito. Pudimos identificar rápidamente que no había una amenaza inmediata y aprovechamos la oportunidad improvisada para realizar un simulacro de incendio no programado. OSAA Track & Field State Championship Results! Taylor Durfey finished 3rd in javelin, 5th in discus, and 2nd in shot put. Taylor threw 113 feet and 3 inches in javelin, 109 feet in discus, and 36 feet and 4.25 inches in shot-put. Luis Campos-Mendoza finished 4th in discus. Luis threw 121 feet and 11 inches in discus. Way to go, Vikings!

Jara Montez will be attending Charter College this fall in Pasco, Washington. Jara will be studying in their 10-month dental program to eventually work in a profession in the dental field.

Issac Armenta has enlisted in the National Guard and will begin his training in the fall. After completing his training, Issac plans to work as a drone technician in aviation.
