Umatilla High School softball is proud to have seven members of the 2024 team earn Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors. Graduates Braelyn Cragun, Luis Ortiz-Cardenas, and Maddisyn Rico were recognized, along with juniors Meghan Owens and Sara Wilson and freshmen McKenzie Campos and Rashayla McCallister. It was the second straight recognition for Cragun, Ortiz-Cardenas, Rico, Owens, and Wilson.
“The spring season can pull our young ladies in a million different directions and that they buy into our focus on being successful in the classroom translates to our continuing growth on the diamond," Olson said. "We are so proud of the efforts made by this group to put themselves in a spot to be successful after high school."
Olson started nominating student-athletes for the honor in 2023. The Viking program's 3.08 cumulative GPA put them on the list of the Top 95 schools in the nation.
