Dear UHS Viking Families,
I hope this letter finds you well and that your summer has been filled with joy, rest, and new memories with family and friends. As we prepare for another exciting year, I want to introduce myself, extend a warm welcome and share important information for the start of the school year.
If you haven’t heard yet, the retirements of Mr. Lorence, Mrs. Dirksen, and Mrs. Tesch has created a few changes in the high school office. My name is Jared Tesch, UHS class of 1996. I am excited to serve as the new principal and give back to the community where it all started for me. I would also like to introduce Oscar Contreras, our new Vice Principal. He joins us from Clara Brownell where he has been serving as the PE teacher. And finally, Mrs. Blanca Ramirez as our new Office Manager. She is also a Viking alumni and has worked most recently as a paraprofessional and coach at UHS.
If you haven’t had the chance to meet us yet, please stop by to say hi, and introduce yourself. The first opportunity to do so is next week at registration (see dates and times below). Registration is required to ensure that all necessary forms and documents are up-to-date to facilitate a smooth start to the school year.
Tuesday, August 13, 8am-3pm
Wednesday, August 14, 8am-3pm & 5pm-7pm
Thursday, August 15, 8am-3pm & 5pm-7pm
When you visit, you will also notice the construction of our new CTE campus. Please excuse the dust, as our new, state-of-the-art facility is built to support our Career and Technical Education Programs like robotics, technology, design, industrial and creative arts, engineering and business.
School will officially start for freshmen on Monday, August 26 and for all students on Tuesday, August 27. As we begin the 2024-25 school year, I am filled with enthusiasm for the opportunities that lie ahead. Our dedicated staff are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and personal growth. We have been working diligently to ensure that we provide a nurturing and engaging environment where every student belongs and thrives.
We also believe that collaboration between school and home is essential to student success. I encourage you to stay actively involved in your child’s education, communicate openly with staff, and participate in school events. We look forward to a fantastic year ahead and to working together to ensure the success and well-being of every student. Go Vikings!
Sincerely,
Jared Tesch
High School Principal
