Thank you to our amazing partners at Costco for delivering backpacks for students today. Wondering what’s happening on the corner of 7th and Sloane? Thanks to a Federal grant, we are able to replace our 1974 modular building with a new triple wide! This building will be used to support our Alternative Education program and our Daycare. No bond funds are used for this project, it is entirely funded by Federal dollars. This project has been in the works for a few years and has faced numerous set-backs due to higher than anticipated costs. Thankfully, Kelly Walton with Hermiston Homes stepped up and helped us with a creative solution that supports a beautiful new building for students at a cost within our budget. This project will be completed in time to welcome students this fall.

The Umatilla School District’s Summer Feeding Program starts next week on June 20th! It will continue through August 11th. Menus will be posted to the Umatilla School District website and Facebook. ​​Congratulations to Janeka, Emme, Cindy, Merced, and Edwin (not pictured), this year’s 8th-grade Umatilla Alumni Association Promise Scholarship recipients! One hundred dollars will be awarded and held in trust for each until graduation from Umatilla High School four years from now. For each year at UHS these students maintain a 2.5 or higher GPA and complete 12 hours of community service, they will be awarded another $100. The total scholarship amount at graduation from UHS could be up to $500 each! — ¡Felicitaciones a Janeka, Emme, Cindy, Merced y Edwin (no en la foto), los beneficiarios de la Beca Promise de la Asociación de Alumnos de Umatilla de grado ocho de este año! A cada uno se le otorga $100 que se les ahorrará hasta que se gradúen de la preparatoria Umatilla en cuatro años. Por cada año en UHS que estos estudiantes mantengan un GPA de 2.5 o más y completen 12 horas de servicio comunitario, recibirán otros $100. ¡El monto total de la beca al graduarse de UHS podría ser de hasta $500 cada estudiante!

Due to situation downtown, CBMS and UHS are in a precautionary secure status. All students and staff are safe and there is no need for alarm. During secure status, activites inside the school are normal, but exterior doors remain locked. We will resume normal operations as soon as the situation is resolved.

The Umatilla School District mourns the loss of beloved teacher and softball coach, Jordan Bennett. Ms. Bennett passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Crisis counseling support will be in place Monday at both MHES and UHS for students and staff in need of grief services. Our love goes out to the Bennett family during this difficult time. We appreciate and cherish all the good she did for the Umatilla community. On Monday, May 29th, the Umatilla School District is closed in observance of Memorial Day. This important holiday honors military personnel who gave their lives in service to our country. — El lunes 29 de mayo, el Distrito Escolar de Umatilla estará cerrado en conmemoración del Día de los Caídos. We are excited to announce that Clara Brownell has launched its very first middle school soccer team and will play in their first Jamboree Tournament this weekend! These young athletes have been working incredibly hard both on and off the field for the past nine weeks now. To be a part of this team, students must maintain a required GPA and attend school regularly. We invite all friends and families to support them this Saturday, May 27th, at the tournament! The girls' team will play at the high school soccer field, while the boys' team will play at the high school football field. The tournament schedule is attached below. We hope to see you there! Thank you to the Umatilla STEAM Academy Afterschool Program for providing this amazing opportunity for our students! — ¡Estamos felices de anunciar que Clara Brownell ahora tiene su primer equipo de fútbol de escuela secundaria y jugará en su primer Torneo Jamboree este fin de semana!
