Clara Brownell Middle School is keeping its school safe by spreading awareness about SafeOregon. SafeOregon is the statewide Oregon tip line (https://www.safeoregon.com/about/). SafeOregon's website states, "SafeOregon is a program created for Oregon students, parents, school staff, community members, and law enforcement officers to report and respond to student safety threats."
To spread awareness about this program, CBMS leadership students posted flyers in the halls of the school and magnets on students' lockers (thank you, InterMountain Education Service District, for providing these materials for students!). These flyers and magnets are to encourage students to report tips on bullying, drugs, or other school safety concerns. The goal is to help prevent the safety threat from occurring.
Tips can be reported in a variety of ways. They can be reported online through the SafeOregon website or by text, email, call, and their mobile app. The link to the SafeOregon website can also be found on the Umatilla School District website.
Why SafeOregon? Students are often hesitant to report safety concerns. SafeOregon is private, and a student's name will never be shared unless they want it to be shared. This program is another way for students to communicate with the school administration if a safety incident occurs.
