On January 8, 2025, we learned that PowerSchool experienced a cybersecurity incident. PowerSchool provided the following preliminary information:
On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool became aware of a potential cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to information through one of its community-focused customer support portals, PowerSource. PowerSchool underwent an investigation, which determined that an unauthorized party gained access to certain PowerSchool customer data.
PowerSchool is working with cybersecurity experts to gain additional information regarding the incident and informed law enforcement. PowerSchool has advised that the incident has been contained and that there is no evidence of continued unauthorized activity within the PowerSchool environment. PowerSchool is not experiencing, nor expects to experience any operational disruption and continues to provide services as normal. PowerSchool has taken steps to prevent the data involved from further unauthorized access and does not anticipate data being shared or made public.
PowerSchool stated that it will work diligently with affected school districts, including Umatilla, to communicate with our staff, families, and other stakeholders.
