LA GRANDE INVITE — The La Grande boys and girls walked away with the team titles at their own meet, with the girls scoring more than 100 points more than second-place Imbler.
The Tigers won eight of 17 events, starting with the 100, where Kayle Collman (12.63) finished a half-step ahead of Heppner’s Halle Hisler, who ran a PR of 12.88.
Hisler turned around and won the 200 with a time of 26.51, with La Grande’s Kylie Brown second at 26.89.
Collman and Brown joined Alexace Milner and Mattie Wolcott on the winning 4x100 relay team that turned in a time of 51.05.
Cecilia Villagomez Edvalson was a double winner for the Tigers, crossing the finish line first in the 1,500 (4:52.83) and the 3,000 with a PR of 10:40.38. Teammate Brooke Perry was second in the 1,500 (4:54.16) and 3,000 (10:40.74).
Heppner’s Lily Nichols was third in both distant races, clocking a PR of 11:11.37 in the 3,000, and running a season-best 5:09.20 in the 1,500.
Riley Archer, Healy Hisler, Nichols and Hallee Hisler joined forces to place second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:20.95 — their best this season.
Healy Hisler also was third in the 400 (1:02.89) and fourth in the 100 (13.18).
La Grande’s Taryn McIlmoil (49.03) and Wolcott (49.32) finished 1-2 in the 300 hurdles.
In the field events, the Tigers got wins from Aubrey Bisenuis in the javelin (103-4), Renee Hutchinson in the high jump (4-8), and Kellyn Oswald in the long jump (15-4.5).
Paiten Braseth won the 800 for Imbler with a time of 2:27.50, five seconds ahead of the next runner. Jayda Cant won the shot put (33-4), was fourth in the discus (90-10) and fifth in the javelin (91-6). Also in the javelin, Olivia Haddock was second (101-5) and Katelynn Pedro was fourth (94-1). Whitney Haddock was third in the triple jump (30-10.5), while Olivia Haddock was fourth (30-5).
Elgin’s Amber George won the 100 hurdles with a PR of 16.80, while Carly McLaughlin was third in the 300 hurdles (52.98) and the pole vault (6-6), Sierra Sauers was second in the discus (103-11) and third in the shot put (31-2), and Jayln Tolliver was second in the triple jump with a PR of 32-20.5.
La Grande won the girls’ team title with 215.5 points, with Imbler second (106), Elgin fourth (62.5) and Heppner fifth (61).
La Grande sophomore Brogan Hedgepeth put 18 points in the Tigers’ pocket, winning the discus with a mark of 146-10, and placing second in the shot put (48-3.75). Teammate Bekham Hibbert won the shot with a heave of 51-11.25.
Josef Simonis won the 1,500 for the Tigers with a time of 4:17.10, while Kaden May was second in the 3,000 (9:59.52), Larsen Wright was second in the 110 hurdles (17.23), and Noah Austin was second in the 300 hurdles with a PR of 49.46.
Heppner’s Chris Humphreys won the javelin with a toss of 154-11, was second in the discus with a PR of 126-0, and was fourth in the shot put with a mark of 37-8.75.
Also for the Mustangs, Joseph Albitre won the high jump at 5-4 and was fourth in the long jump with a PR of 18-0, while Hayden McMahon was fifth in the 200 (24.71), and Nick Wenberg was fifth in the long jump (17-10).
Imbler’s Adam Gordon won the 800 in a time of 2:06.77, and was third in the 1,500 (4:26.42), while Carson Yancey won the 300 hurdles (44.54), Brody Parrish was third in the 110 hurdles (17.39), and Caison Vela was third in the 400 (5.48) and the high jump (5-2).
Britton Parks led Elgin with a fourth-place finish in the 400 (56.66), while Kyler Perkins was fifth in the pole vault (8-6).
La Grande rolled up 155 points to win the team title, with Nyssa second (109) and Adrian third (82). Imbler was fifth (66), Heppner was seventh (51), Elgin was ninth (15) and Irrigon was 10th (8).
