UMATILLA 11, RAINIER 7 — The Vikings broke open a close game with a six-run fifth inning for a home win over the Columbians in the Stanfield Tournament.
Umatilla had a 3-2 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.
Brian Younger-Morris got things going with an RBI single, followed by Carter Griggs with an RBI single. Two runs would score on a passed ball, and another came across on a bases-loaded walk for a 7-2 lead.
Davis Raymond and Dominick McCallister each scored on passed balls to push the lead to 9-2.
The Columbians would add five runs late in the game, but could not catch the Vikings.
Younger-Morris and Griggs each had two hits for Umatilla, while RJ Estrada had three stolen bases.
Griggs pitched six solid innings, allowing three runs on eight hits and striking out six.
Angel Becerra led the Columbians, going 3-for-5 with two RBIs.
