UMATILLA 5, SHERMAN 2 — The Vikings scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to help seal a win over the visiting Huskies.
Holding onto a 2-1 lead, Umatilla went to work in the fifth, scoring on an error, a fielder’s choice by Carter Griggs, and Griggs later scored on a passed ball for a 5-1 lead.
The Huskies got one run back in the top of the sixth, but it wouldn’t be enough.
Brian Younger-Morris went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for the Vikings (2-0), while David Garcia had the other hit.
RJ Estrada pitched a complete game for Umatilla, allowed two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.
Leven Whitbeck took the loss for Sherman (0-1), allowing two runs on one hit and striking out eight.
