UMATILLA 54, BURNS 43 — Mike McGee had 17 points and 18 rebounds as the Vikings improved to 4-2 in Eastern Oregon League play with a home win over the Hilanders.

Umatilla (16-4 overall) took a 12-7 lead in the first quarter, and le 24-19 at half. The Vikings outscored Burns 30-24 in the second half to keep the Hilanders at bay.

David Garcia added 13 points for the Vikings, while Micheal Montez added 12 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

Jack Wright led the Hilanders (14-6, 4-2) with a game-high 22 points.

BURNS 67, UMATILLA 24 — The Hilanders’ post players were more than the Vikings could handle in an Eastern Oregon League home loss to Burns.

The Hilanders (13-5 overall, 5-1 EOL) took control of the game early, leading 22-7 after the first quarter and 42-17 at the half.

Burns, which held Umatilla scoreless in the fourth quarter, outscored the Vikings 25-7 in the second half.

Jordan Escamilla led Umatilla (11-8, 3-3) with eight points, while Shay McCallister added six.

Akylah Kaino led Burns with 21 points, while Caitlyn Horrell added 18 and Amaya Ballard 16.

Girls Wrestling 
BANK OF EASTERN OREGON INVITE — Riverside crowned five champions and won the team title at Heppner High School.

Mayte Pacheco led things off with a title at 105 pounds, pinning Sahalle Campos of The Dalles in 53 seconds.

Adalia Chavez followed with a title at 115, pinning Kianna Dominguez of The Dalles in 1:55.

At 130, Megan Wiseman won her first two matches by fall, then won her first two matches by fall, then won by injury default of Mary McCracken of The Dalles.

Katelyn Wiseman won the 140-pound title, going 2-1 in the round-robin format, and Rebecca Wiltberger won at 170, pinning both of her opponents.

Also for the Pirates, Jamie Torres was forth at 120, Allie Schuler was seventh 130 and Juliah Williams was seventh at 145.

Heppner did not win any titles, but had second-place finishes by Harlee Cotton (120), Journey Cavan-Harris (145), Sarah Munkers (170) and Keeley Nairns (235).

Also for the Mustangs, Loren Trujillo was third at 115 and Emillia Cavan-Harris was fourth at 145.

Elgin got titles from Amber George at 120 and Bailey Hasbell at 145, while Jacie Lathrop was third at 140.

Mac-Hi’s Anahy Perez finished second at 155, while Ximena Gome Andrade was third at 170, and Yuliana Hernandez-Gomez was sixth at 145.

Sara Akers (155) and Cinthia Madrigal (235) each placed third for Irrigon, while Lexi Flores (130) was fourth and Emma Macomber (130) was fifth.

Umatilla’s lone entrant, Rylee Sanchez won the 155-pound title. Riverside won the team title with 94 points, with host Heppner second with 57, and Elgin a close third with 54.5. Irrigon was eighth (13), Umatilla ninth (8.5) and Mac-Hi 10th (7).
