Boys Basketball 
MANNAHOUSE ACADEMY 53, UMATILLA 45 — The Lions broke up a close game with an 18-12 run in the fourth quarter to beat the Vikings in the third-place game of the Black Bracket at the Crusader Classic at Salem Academy.

Umatilla (10-2) led 14-13 after the first quarter, then the Lions took a 23-21 lead at the half.

Each team scored 12 points in the third before Mannahouse went on a run in the fourth.

Micheal Montez led the Vikings with 16 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while David Garcia had 12 points and five rebounds. Mike McGee hauled down nine rebounds and scored six points.

Nolan Schweiss led the Lions (10-3) with 21 points, with Caleb Dickinson adding 16, and Mattias Tonning 11.

Girls Basketball 
UMATILLA 50, MANNAHOUSE ACADEMY 20 — The Vikings held the Lions to just five points in the second half to close out play at the Crusader Classic with a victory in the Black Bracket at Salem Academy High School.

Jordyn Escamilla scored five of her 15 points in the first quarter as Umatilla took an 11-2 lead.

The Lions roared back with a 13-11 run in the second to pull within 22-15 at the half.

Shay McCallister scored 11 of her 18 points in the second half as the Vikings (8-4) took control of the game.

Reaiah Hall led the Lions (7-5) with 17 points.

Girls Wrestling 
JO-HI TOURNAMENT — Heppner had three wrestlers place second, and the Mustangs finished third in the team standings in Joseph.

Grant Union won the team title with 71.5 points, with Heppner a close second with 68. Elgin was a distant third (51), while Irrigon (39) was sixth, Umatilla (29) was ninth, Echo (20) was 11th, and Imbler (18) was 12th.

Loren Trujillo finished second in the 106-116 weight class, losing her only match to Grant Union’s Zoey Beam by fall in the round robin format.

Sarah Munkers went 1-1 at 166-178, beating Hannah Appleford of Asotin by fall in 3:52. She was pinned by Umatilla’s Shanie Thomas in 51 seconds.

Also placing second was Keeley Nairns at 187-199. Nairns pinned Maggie Conn of Grant Union in 1:10, then lost to Gracie Baker of Crane, getting pinned in 1:26.

Also for Heppner, Journey Cavan-Harris was third at 135-142, Emillia Cavan-Harris was fifth at 142-156, and Harlee Cotton was sixth at 118-125.

Elgin’s Bailey Hasbell won the 142-156 weight class, posting a 4-1 decision over April Lopez of Crane, and a 6-1 decision over Lucy Camacho of Imbler, who finished second.

Also for the Panthers, Amber George was third at 118-125, and Jacie Lathrop was fourth at 135-142.

Irrigon sent five girls to the tournament, and all five placed.

Roxy Solis was second at 118-125, going 2-1 with a loss to Talluah April of Enterprise/Wallowa, who pinned Solis in 4:36.

Cinthia Madrigal was second at 220-230, losing twice by fall to Grant Union’s Mallory Lusco.

Also for the Knights, Lexi Flores was fourth at 122-131, while Emma Macomber was sixth at 122-131, and Sara Akers was sixth at 142-156.

Shanie Thomas won the 166-178 weight class, winning both of her matches by fall in the round robin format.

Rylee Sanchez added a fourth-place finish for the Vikings at 142-156.

For Echo, Averi Fisher was second at 122-131, pinning Macomber in 1:17, and Grace Cory of Culver in 36 seconds. She lost the championship match to Timber Winegar of Grant Union 12-6 in a tiebreaker.
